The Future of Mitt Romney

The New York Times wrote about the potential career options that Governer Mitt Romney now has after losing in the 2012 presidential election to President Barak Obama. “The only door that is closed to Mitt Romney for the remainder of his life is being president of the United States,”  said Steve Schmidt, a campaign adviser to Senator John McCain in 2008.  The Times predicted that Romney may write a book, take on a major role in the Mormon Church, or continue working in politics through different organizations.  Mitt Romney says, “I will not fall off the map.”

The Washington Post focused more on what went wrong with the Republican Party in the race for the White House.  Republicans say they underestimated the amount of people and votes that would turn toward Obama when voting Tuesday, Nov. 7.  The Post writes that one of the biggest reasons that Mitt Romney was not elected was because of Obama's approach to immigration.  A huge portion of votes came from Hispanic voters.

The Los Angeles Times wrote about Romney's defeat in Florida.  The Romney campaign has finally given up on the count of absentee ballot reports in Florida on Thursday.  On Tuesday it was declared that Obama had won the electoral votes in Florida, but through Thursday many counties throughout the state continued to count absentee ballots.  Florida was a swing state that Mitt Romney had needed to go his way in order to stand a chance against President Obama.  Without the win from Florida, Romney quickly fell behind Obama in electoral votes.
