New York Mayor Bloomberg endorsed Barack Obama on Thursday, while the city still pieced itself together amid the aftermath of hurricane Sandy, the Washington Post reported.  The Mayor gave climate change as reason for his endorsement. "We need leadership from the White House,” he said. “(Obama) has taken major steps to reduce our carbon consumption.”

The New York Times featured the same story, focusing more on the endorsement's relationship to the election. Although, New York is considered a lock for the Obama camp, it is questionable whether the endorsement will matter outside the state.

On the other coast, the Los Angeles Times did not cover Bloomberg's endorsement, instead reporting on Mitt Romney's meeting with house majority leader Eric Cantor.  Mr. Cantor said  President Obama had not met with him for nearly a year.  "I'm going to meet regularly with Democrat leaders and Republican leaders," Romney said. "When I say regularly I mean much more frequently than that.
