After a very long and gruesome 2012 election, Mr. Obama had won America's support for his second term. Our newspapers reflected on both candidates, their strategies, and what’s to come.
The Los Angeles Times pointed towards the swing states for pulling out Obama’s win, claiming six of the seven battlegrounds. They also mentioned Romney’s loss of his home state of Massachusetts.
The New York Times gave a personal account of Mr. Obama’s Election Day, mentioning his traditional Election Day basketball game, a call about Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, and dinner with his family at their Hyde Park home.
The Washington Post believed three events contributed to Obama’s win: his bail out of the U.S. auto industry, his focus on illegal immigrants, and his response to Hurricane Sandy. They also mentioned Obama intends to sit down with Romney to discuss how their parties can work together. The article said the 2012 election had matured Obama from a “hopeful uniter into a determined fighter.”
As for Obama he said, “the best is yet to come.”
